Factory Recommended Maintenance

Most of us are aware the manufacturers of our new or used cars have specified “recommended”–and in some cases “required”–maintenance services for our vehicles.

The purposes of these services are to help ensure prolonged vehicle reliability. The little secret many people aren’t aware of is you’re not required to return to the dealer. These services can be performed by any qualified auto service and repair specialist.

Here are just a few of the services available:

Timing belt replacement

Many 4-cylinder and some 6-cylinder vehicles utilize a belt to time the movements of certain engine components. This belt is prone to failure after a period of use and should be replaced.

Recommended every 60,000 miles for most vehicles.

Cooling System Service/Flush

Chemically flush cooling system and add Valvoline® conditioner to help keep this vital system protected against the deposits and corrosion, which can develop over time.

Recommended every 30,000 miles.

Automatic Transmission Flush

Add Valvoline® chemical cleaner to transmission prior to flushing. Flush transmission fluid and add Valvoline® conditioner. This service completely exchanges the transmission fluid providing fresh additives for tip-top transmission protection and operation.

Recommended every 30,000 miles.

Power Steering System Flush

This service provides excellent protection of this vital control system by chemically flushing and exchanging the power steering fluid using Valvoline® cleaner and specialized fluid.

Recommended every 30,000 miles.

Fuel Injection/Induction Service

Utilizing Valvoline® 3-part specialized cleaning system process, we’ll clean not only the injectors but the entire fuel intake system, helping to provide better fuel economy and power (a good idea with today’s fuel costs.)

Recommended every 30,000 miles.

Brake System Service/Flush

Moisture is the enemy of brake systems, especially since the introduction of today’s advanced Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS). Regular brake fluid flushing can help prevent expensive brake system failures.

Recommended every 30,000 miles.

Extend your Warranty Coverage

Transmission Repair/Replacement:

Have an automatic transmission? No problem. Have a manual (stick) transmission? No problem.

The transmissions of today are much more sophisticated than in years past and require an intimate knowledge of both the mechanical as well as the electronic (computer controlled) systems for proper diagnosis & repair.

D&R Autoworks has both the latest training and information systems as well as state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to quickly and efficiently diagnose and repair your vehicle. Also note that many of the transmissions we supply also come with extended warranties of up to 3 years or 100,000 miles!

(Not all makes and models will receive extended warranty coverage.)

4WD Repairs

4WD vehicles use a “transfer case” and additional other components to provide power to all 4 wheels. This is especially useful when driving in wet/snowy intermittent conditions but also allows off-road enthusiasts to enjoy getting to places not accessible by any other mode of transport.

Although generally reliable, there are intricacies to these systems that at times can cause operation problems, sometimes even turning on a warning light at the dash.

Our many years of dealing with transmissions have also acquainted us with the myriad of 4WD systems in use today. Our expertise and experience allow us the ability to properly diagnose and repair these systems on a regular basis.

Obviously, the best situation would be to have little or no problems with the 4WD systems in your vehicle. That’s why we recommend regular maintenance of the vital fluids used by these components. Ask your Service Advisor today how best to maintain your 4WD system.

Clutch Replacement

Many customers assume when the clutch doesn’t seem to work properly, it’s time for a new clutch. Although this may be true in some cases, we find that there are often other issues that may not require such extensive repair.

D&R Autoworks begins with a comprehensive inspection of the clutch system to determine the source of the problem and therefore can recommend the proper repair. In some cases, the problem may only be a clutch hydraulic component failure such as a clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. In other cases the clutch may indeed require replacement.

In the event a clutch replacement is required, we’ll only use new clutches from trusted manufacturers and resurfacing of the flywheel is always performed on site (this corner is sometimes cut by other “professionals”) to control the quality of the final repair.

Engine Diagnostic Service

Ever have that “Check Engine” light come on at the dash? Maybe the engine just isn’t running quite right? Fuel mileage not what it used to be?

In any event, D&R Autoworks can help get to the bottom of those annoying “drivability” concerns. D&R Autoworks utilizes the latest in diagnostic and information systems and highly skilled technicians to quickly diagnose and repair your car.

Air Conditioning Service And Repair

Don’t let the heat get you down, keep it cool with D&R Autoworks this summer!

Using state-of-the-art equipment, we’ll evacuate and measure the refrigerant in your system, recharge the system with the proper refrigerant and test for proper cooling. In the event we find the system low on refrigerant, we’ll test for leaks to determine the proper course for repair, thereby ensuring you a long cool summer.

Electrical/Battery Service & Repair

D&R Autoworks can provide full electrical system diagnosis and repair for both the starting systems as well as the other fused electrical circuitry on your vehicle.

These are the type of repairs that call upon the expertise and knowledge of a skilled and trained technician. D&R Autoworks’ electrical specialists are ASE Certified and ASE Master Certified Technicians.

Radiator/Cooling System Service & Repair

The cooling system consists of the radiator, water pump, cooling fan, various hoses and engine passages and is susceptible to coolant degradation and corrosion damage.

Radiator failures and water pumps are some of the main things we see fail but also engine gaskets and hose failures also commonly occur. The potential for engine damage due to poor cooling system operation or component failures is high.

Although we can provide repairs when failures occur, we’d prefer to help our customers by providing preventive maintenance such as regular cooling system flushes and replacement of worn hoses before failures occur.

Power Door Lock/Window Service & Repair

Power door locks and power windows are common systems that fail. Many times a simple switch is the culprit, but often a door lock actuator or window motor requires replacement.

D&R Autoworks can commonly repair these problems same day (providing parts are available). If that power window or lock doesn’t work, just give us a call!

Major Engine Repair

Many of the major engine repairs we see tend to be related to gasket failures. Repairs such as cylinder head or intake manifold gasket repairs are well within the scope of repairs that we perform.

Our technicians are meticulous when performing component reassembly to ensure proper fit and finish of the repair. We’re proud of our work and we think you’ll notice the attention to detail, both at the counter and under the hood.

Engine Replacement

D&R Autoworks provides engine replacement service when a vehicle’s engine has exhausted its usable life. Factory new engines are always the first choice when available and rebuilt engines are our second choice. Because of our choice to utilize only the best replacement engines, we’re limited in the vehicles we can provide engine replacements for. Ask us about your car today!

Brake Service & Repair

The braking system of your car is one of its most vital safety features. Failure to stop could mean…well I’m sure you know what it could mean.

D&R Autoworks performs a comprehensive brake inspection before we recommend any brake related repairs. This inspection includes checking the condition of the brake fluid itself as well as the various mechanical and electronic components of the brake system. The fluid is the brake system’s “life’s blood” and is susceptible to moisture collection and contamination which can damage the sensitive Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) components.

We’re capable of providing superior brake repairs and service but we also believe that flushing the brake fluid regularly is a must on today’s sophisticated brake systems.

Tune-Up

Quite often, a customer will call and ask for a “tune-up” believing that this is the “fix” for a poor running engine, a check engine light, etc.

Although in some cases replacing the spark plugs may repair a poor running engine, it quite often makes no difference simply because it’s not the cause of the problem at hand.

If you have an engine running problem, we’d be happy to help, but we recommend beginning with some basic engine diagnosis although, the term “tune-up” no longer means what it used to; it’s still a term that we use to refer to ignition maintenance related services (replacement of spark plugs, etc.).

Most vehicle owner’s manuals specify the appropriate interval for replacement of the spark plugs, etc. and we believe the best course of action is to follow these recommendations called “Recommended Maintenance” or “Scheduled Maintenance”.
